In the age of big hair, Miami Vice and colourful Bill Cosby sweaters a little stereo shop was born in Brockville, Ontario. The year is 1986 and Larry Jones has returned to Brockville to realise a longtime dream. April 5, 1986 Just HiFi is born. With 3 generations present for the Grand Opening; Brockville was ready for a REAL hifi shop. My Grandfather, Doug Jones, a former high school geography teacher, my Father, Larry; and myself were opening the doors for the first time. It was a very busy day. A good sign of things to come. It was time to get more people involved. My Mother, Joyce and my sister Rachel soon joined the team. The 80's saw Just HiFi build a solid reputation as THE place to buy stereo equipment.
Just HiFi is the brainchild of Larry Jones. Being in the audio industry since 1971, Larry has extensive knowledge and experience in all things audio and video. Beginning at Floor and Wall in Brockville in 1971, and moving on to Tip Top Sound in the mid 70's, audio was, and is Larry's life's passion. In the late 1970's Larry made his way to the booming city of Edmonton, Alberta and started working at Disco Sound. Setting sales record after sales record, Larry made it known that he was THE salesman at Disco Sound. As the boom in Alberta began to slow down, Larry made his way to Toronto, and found employment at Fairview Electronics in Rexdale. In 1985, Larry decided it was time to return to where it all began; to start his own hifi store. Thus, Just HiFi is born. We recently celebrated our 19th year in Brockville!
In 1986 we saw the introduction of the CD player to the Brockville market. Many people were leery of this new digital technology. Touted as sounding better than LP's or tape, the CD player soon became a component none of us could live without. It changed the way we listened to music and spelled the end of the vinyl record....or did it?
In late 1986 we also saw the introduction of a little thing called "surround sound". 4 speakers in the same room enveloping the listener in sound. Dolby Surround is introduced.
Late in 1987, Larry decided it was time to branch out, and open a 2nd store. In January of 1988 our Kingston store opened it's doors. Then located across from our present location, the store was much smaller than it is now. It was a tough go at first, but Larry persevered and now Just HiFi is the leader in quality consumer electronics in the Kingston area. As custom installations and "whole home" systems become more commonplace, Larry decided it was time to start a custom installation division of Just HiFi. David Willemse, our custom installer is Cedia certified and does quality work. Check out just a small sample of some of the work David has done. Larry and David work closely together to ensure that all our custom clients receive exactly what they asked for.

Whether it's simple instruction of a basic 2 channel system or an in depth tutorial on how to use the "whole home" system. The staff and Just HiFi will take care of your every hifi need.
